Reverse description Central effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile wearing the St. Edward's Crown as used at the 1953 Coronation, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. To the right of the portrait, the Imperial State Crown is depicted alongside the commemorative dates 1953 and 2018, marking the 65th anniversary of the Coronation. A circular legend surrounds the design, with the denomination FIVE POUNDS inscribed at the base. The composition is the work of designer Joel Iskowitz and is characteristic of commemorative proof coinage produced for the anniversary.

Additional information

Alderney, the smallest of the four main Channel Islands, has issued commemorative coinage under Crown dependency arrangements since the 1990s — politically British, but outside the United Kingdom proper. The 65th coronation anniversary fell in 2018, an interval celebrated largely because Elizabeth II had by then become the longest-reigning British monarch in history, surpassing Victoria in 2015.

The 28.28g sterling silver specification is shared by virtually every commemorative Crown-sized issue from this jurisdiction, produced through the same contracted minting arrangements used across multiple Channel Island issuers.
