Outriders on horseback flank both sides of the procession, evoking a royal ceremonial procession. Additional information

Alderney's commemorative program has long operated as a revenue vehicle for the States of Alderney rather than a functioning currency — these pieces are legal tender in name only, struck by the Royal Mint under contract and never intended to circulate. The 60th wedding anniversary issue appeared in the same year Buckingham Palace marked the occasion with a private celebration at Windsor, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh having married on 20 November 1947.

A diamond wedding anniversary coin from a dependency of four square miles with a population under 2,000 tells you everything about how modern commemorative coinage actually works.
