Issued as part of The Royal Mint's licensing arrangement with Sanrio's Chorion-acquired Mr. Men and Little Miss franchise, this 2021 crown celebrates characters created by Roger Hargreaves, who began the series in 1971 after his son Adam asked him what a tickle looked like. Hargreaves died in 1988; his son Adam took over writing and illustrating the books and has continued the franchise since. These licensed commemorative crowns circulate as legal tender in name only — virtually none enter circulation.
