Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right in right-facing truncated bust, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The engraver's initials IRB appear on the truncation. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH·II D·G·REG·F·D, with the denomination FIVE POUNDS inscribed along the lower rim. The portrait is rendered with fine detail in the hair and facial features, set against a flat field.
