Obverse description Orange intaglio print on a multicolour guilloche underprint, with black serial numbers. A portrait vignette of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the King George IV State Diadem, is positioned at right in three-quarter facing view; a vignette of a ship in Hamilton Harbour occupies the left portion of the note. Issuing authority and legal tender text appear across the face, with facsimile signatures of the Colonial Treasurer and Deputy Colonial Treasurer.

Reverse description Orange intaglio print on a yellow-green guilloche underprint. The British Royal coat of arms is centrally positioned within an ornate cartouche, flanked on either side by large circular guilloche rosettes each bearing the denomination legend "FIVE POUNDS" in bold letterpress. The printer's imprint appears at the lower centre beneath the £5 numeral.
