Reverse description Five overlapping portrait busts of the Tudor monarchs of the 16th century are depicted in high relief across the central field, arranged in a composite group composition: the elaborately ruffed and crowned effigy of Elizabeth I is prominent at the top centre, flanked by additional royal portraits including Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, and Henry VII. A decorative cartouche bearing the stylised inscription C16th is placed at the lower centre of the design. The arc legend A CENTURY OF THE MONARCHY appears along the upper periphery, with FIVE POUNDS along the lower periphery, both separated by a beaded border.
