Obverse description The field displays the denomination in Arabic naskh script ('خمسة جنيهات', Five Pounds) prominently in the center, with the issuer legend 'الجمهورية العربية المتحدة' (United Arab Republic) arching across the upper portion of the field. The dual dates — AH 1384 to the right and AD 1964 to the left — flank the central legend. An ornate arabesque floral cartouche decorates the lower field. The entire design is framed by a dentilated inner border running along the coin's periphery.
