| Obverse description | Central design features the denomination numeral '٥' (5) inscribed within a raised oval cartouche at the upper field, beneath which the dual date '١٤١٠-١٩٩٠' (AH 1410 / AD 1990) appears in Arabic numerals. A broad Arabic calligraphic legend in the lower portion of the field reads 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt), rendered in flowing Naskh script.
