Reverse description Youthful laureate bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, adapted from Mary Gillick's celebrated original portrait used on British coinage from 1953 to 1967. The effigy depicts the Queen with a laureate wreath of olive leaves in her hair, tied with a ribbon, and a bare neck and shoulders. Fine radiating engine-turned lines fill the field around the portrait, creating a sunburst effect. The legend 'PORTRAIT OF A QUEEN' appears to the upper right, with the date range '1953 - 1967' below, and the engraver's initials 'M·G' are visible in the lower left field.
