| Reverse description | Full-length figure of Little John, the legendary companion of Robin Hood, depicted standing in a woodland setting amid the great oaks of Sherwood Forest. The powerful, bearded figure is dressed in a simple medieval tunic, hose, and belt pouch, and holds a long quarterstaff diagonally across his body with both hands. The densely detailed background features towering tree trunks and foliage rendered in fine relief, with wild grass at the figure's feet evoking the forest floor. The upper circular legend reads LITTLE JOHN · MYTHS AND LEGENDS ·, with the date 2024 at the lower right, and the engraver's initials JC appearing discreetly in the lower right field. The design is the work of Jody Clark and forms part of The Royal Mint's Myths and Legends series. |
