| Reverse description | A bold heraldic Lion of England passant guardant rendered in selective gold ink occupies the central field, presented in a highly stylised and commanding manner. The Latin legend SYMBOLA FORTITUDINIS ET FIDELITATIS arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination FIVE POUNDS appears along the lower border. The design by Tom Meek emphasises regal symbolism through the use of contrasting colour against the coin's silver-toned relief. |

The Lion of England series traces its lineage to a design program that has run on Isle of Man five-pound pieces for decades, with the crowned lion reverse updated periodically to reflect the reigning monarch on the obverse. The Isle of Man Treasury has long operated with unusual independence in its coinage decisions, historically issuing pieces through the Pobjoy Mint before transitioning arrangements — a flexibility that has produced some of the more visually experimental crown-sized pieces in British territorial coinage.
The selective gold ink application is a post-strike decorative process, not a traditional gilding technique.
