Additional information

Issued following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, this is one of dozens of commemorative strikes rushed to market by Crown Dependencies and Commonwealth territories in the months that followed. Guernsey, as a dependency of the British Crown rather than part of the United Kingdom, issues its own coinage under royal sanction — giving pieces like this a technical legitimacy that many similar memorial issues from private mints lack.

The KM#517a suffix distinguishes this silver proof from a base-metal companion issue.
