Obverse description Central design features a stylised Islamic arch motif surmounted by a football, rendered in relief against the field. The denomination appears in both Western (5 LE) and Eastern Arabic (٥ جـ) numerals flanking the central device at left and right respectively. Below the arch, the Arabic legend identifying the Arab Republic of Egypt is inscribed in two lines, accompanied by the abbreviation A.R.E. The dual Hijri and Gregorian years 1418 and 1997 appear on either side of the legend, repeated in both Arabic-Indic and Western numerals. The mint name CAIRO is inscribed in the lower exergue, and the coin is framed by a decorative beaded border.
