| Obverse description | Central field features an upright Olympic torch flanked by two circular medallions bearing Arabic calligraphic inscriptions. Below the torch, the Arabic legend 'Jumhuriyyat Misr al-Arabiyya' (Arab Republic of Egypt) is rendered in an interlaced calligraphic style. The five interlocked Olympic rings appear in the lower central field. The Islamic date ١٤٠٥ and the Gregorian date ١٩٨٥ flank the design on the left and right respectively, while the Silver Jubilee inscription curves along the lower rim in Arabic script.
