Reverse description The reverse is intaglio-printed in deep olive-brown, with an elaborate guilloche underprint of interlocking rosettes and lozenge patterns filling the field. At centre, an engraved circular vignette presents the Gibraltar coat of arms — a castle with a key below within a shield — surrounded by a scroll bearing the motto MONTIS INSIGNIA CALPE, with large ornate £5 cipher medallions to either side. The denomination FIVE POUNDS is lettered in a panel at the foot of the design.
