Obverse description Intaglio-printed in olive-brown tones, the obverse carries the heading GOVERNMENT OF GIBRALTAR at the top, beneath which the authority inscription UNDER AUTHORITY OF THE CURRENCY NOTE ORDINANCE 1934 is set. A central engraved vignette of the Rock of Gibraltar is framed within an ornate scrollwork cartouche, with £5 numerals at each corner and the panel inscription FIVE POUNDS above; the lower register accommodates the legal tender clause, place of issue, date, serial number, and the Financial Secretary's signature.
