Reverse description The central vignette presents a scenic landscape of Milford Sound with the distinctive peak of Mitre Peak reflected in the still waters below, engraved in fine intaglio detail. Flanking the central scene are two large ornate guilloche medallions each bearing the £5 denomination numeral, rendered in complementary tones against a lightly tinted underprint. The issuer's name is inscribed in an arched panel at the top, with the denomination in a solid panel at the base, and the printer's imprint appearing in small text at the bottom margin.
