Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a classical male head — generally identified as a river god or allegorical spirit, possibly associated with the River Lagan — rendered in a Greco-Roman sculptural style with a winged helmet, set within a recessed rectangular panel. The surrounding field is unprinted and cream-toned, enclosed within an elaborate scalloped guilloche border with interlaced Celtic knotwork corner pieces and small floral rosettes at the midpoints.
