| Obverse description | Central depiction of the Sudanese national emblem — a secretary bird with outstretched wings displayed upon its breast, set within a plain field. The denomination numeral '5' appears in both Western Arabic (Latin) and Eastern Arabic numerals flanking the emblem at the lower left and right respectively. An Arabic legend arches above the emblem, reading the commemorative inscription for the 15th Hijri Century, while the English legend 'ISLAMIC WORLD 15TH CENTURY' is inscribed below in the lower field.
