| Additional information |
Bangladesh's first coinage series, issued in 1973, was struck just two years after independence following the Liberation War of 1971. The new state needed a functioning currency infrastructure almost immediately, and these earliest aluminium pieces were produced at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, Wales — Bangladesh had no domestic minting capacity at the time.
