Obverse description Plain field bearing the large numeral '5' centrally placed, serving as the denomination indicator. A circular legend reads 'STADT SOLINGEN 1919' along the upper arc and '★ PFENNIG ★' along the lower arc, with two six-pointed stars acting as separators. The design is austere and typographic in character, consistent with the utilitarian Notgeld issues of the immediate post-World War I period. A raised rim frames the entire obverse.
