Obverse description A beaded border runs along the coin's periphery. At center, the municipal coat of arms of Polzin is depicted in relief, a divided shield bearing vertical striping on the dexter side and a stylized tree or foliage motif on the sinister side. The curved legend 'STADT POLZIN' arcs across the upper field, while the date '1919' appears in the lower field, flanked on each side by a small ringed pellet serving as a stop.

Reverse description A beaded border runs along the periphery, mirroring the obverse treatment. The word 'NOTGELD' curves boldly along the upper arc of the field. At center, the large numeral '5' dominates the field, rendered in a prominent serif style. Below the numeral, the denomination 'PFENNIG' is inscribed in capital letters along the lower arc. Decorative ringed pellet stops and smaller pellets are positioned on either side of the central numeral to fill the lateral fields.
