| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the heraldic shield of Oberlahnstein, displaying vertically striped barry with two wagon wheels arranged vertically upon the shield. The date 19 and 17 flanks the shield to the left and right respectively. A circular legend reading VOLKSBANK OBERLAHNSTEIN NOTGELD arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination WERT 5 PFEG. appears in bold relief at the base, separated by two raised bullet points. The overall design is executed in a plain, utilitarian style characteristic of German Notgeld emergency coinage of World War I. |
