Obverse description The octagonal field displays the municipal coat of arms of Nordenham at center, depicting a divided heraldic shield with an eagle displayed on the dexter side and a tower or architectural element on the sinister side. A circular legend surrounds the arms along the periphery, flanked by two six-pointed star separators at the base. The date 1918 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the shield, and a pearl or beaded inner border frames the design.

Reverse description The reverse features a pearl or beaded border running along the full octagonal rim, with the circular legend KLEINGELDERSAT ZMARKE arranged around the periphery. At center, a twisted rope circle encloses the large numeral '5' denoting the denomination. Three six-pointed star separators are positioned at the lower portion of the field, outside the rope circle, serving as decorative punctuation. The overall design is austere and functional, consistent with wartime Notgeld emergency coinage.
