| Additional information |
Mechanische Baumwoll-Spinnerei und Weberei Kempten was one of the larger textile operations in the Allgäu region, and like many German industrial firms during the First World War and its aftermath, it issued its own small-denomination token coinage to compensate for the acute shortage of official Reichs coinage in circulation. Iron was the only practical choice by that point — copper and nickel had been requisitioned for the war effort years earlier.
