| Obverse description | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a dotted border following the eight-sided periphery. The issuer's legend LOUIS L. STERN & Co. curves around the upper portion of the field in raised Latin lettering, with KARLSRUHE inscribed along the lower arc. A rope-twist inner circle encloses the large raised numeral 5 in the central field, denoting the denomination. A small six-pointed star appears between the issuer's name and the place name on either side, serving as decorative separators. |
