Obverse description An outer pearl border frames a circular legend in Latin script reading MAGISTRAT DER KREISSTADT GOSTYN, with a six-pointed star ornament on each side of the date 1917 at the base. Within the legend, a secondary pearl circle encloses the municipal coat of arms of Gostyn, depicted as a crenellated city gate with a central archway and two flanking towers, rendered in low relief. Below the gate, a stylized eagle or heraldic element with foliate ornaments separates the design from the date. The overall composition is symmetrical and characteristic of World War I-era German notgeld municipal coinage.
