Obverse description Within a beaded border, the civic coat of arms of Elmshorn occupies the central field, depicting a mural-crowned shield surmounted by battlemented towers and charged with a heraldic device in the lower half. The circular legend KREDIT-VEREIN ZU ELMSHORN surrounds the arms along the periphery, terminating with a small floral ornament at the base. The entire design is contained within the eight-sided planchet, with the flat facets of the octagonal flan clearly defined.
