| Obverse description | A plain field entirely occupied by a multi-line Latin legend arranged in horizontal registers across the coin's face, reading UNTER GEWÄHR DER KREISE BONN-STADT BONN-LAND UND DES SIEGKREISES 1917, attesting the guarantee of the three issuing districts. The date 1917 appears at the base of the inscription, flanked by small decorative stars. The entire design is enclosed within a fine beaded (pearl) border running along the inner rim. |

| Reverse description | The large numeral '5' dominates the central field, rendered in bold relief. Immediately below, the denomination legend PFENNIG is inscribed in capital letters, with the date 1917 beneath it. Flanking the central device on both sides are sprays of oak branches with acorns in low relief, their foliage curving gracefully to fill the field. The composition is framed by a continuous beaded (pearl) border at the rim, consistent with the wartime Notgeld aesthetic. |
