| Obverse description | Printed in sage green on white paper, this square Notgeld note is framed by a geometric border with quatrefoil ornaments at each corner. A large solid green circle at the centre carries the bold white numeral '5' as the denomination indicator. The issuer's name is divided across the frame, with 'HOFHEIM' along the top panel, 'BEZIRKS-SPARKASSE' running vertically in the left and right lateral panels respectively, and 'PFENNIG' inscribed along the bottom panel, the whole composition executed in a clean, typographic letterpress style reminiscent of contemporary postage stamp design. |
