| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in dark blue-violet and tan on cream paper, with the denomination numeral '5' appearing in large format at both left and right flanking a central vignette of the Töpfersturm (Potter's Tower), a historic round tower with a pointed spire set among trees, captioned 'TÖPFERSTURM' below. The left panel carries a redemption notice in Gothic script stating the note is redeemable within one year of issue at the Stadtkasse, while the right panel bears the place-date 'Waltershausen, den 1.
