| Obverse description | Plain cream paper ground with an overall yellow-ochre guilloche underprint composed of repeating wave and floral rosette patterns. The note is framed by a typeset border of alternating oval and dash elements. Denomination numerals '5' appear at left and right in bold letterpress type, with the central text 'Gutschein über fünf Pfennige' in blackletter script, surmounted by the issuing authority 'Gemeindeverwaltung Penzberg' and the validity clause; the date 'Penzberg, am 5. April 1917' is set below, accompanied by a manuscript signature, with the printer's imprint 'J. P.
