Obverse description Cream-toned note with an ornate scrollwork border enclosing the denomination text "Fünf Pfennig" in large Gothic blackletter script at centre. The upper portion carries the issuing authority inscription in Gothic script, flanked on each side by a small vignette of the town's coat of arms. Numeral "5" appears in bold at lower left and lower right corners, with validity and date inscriptions and a facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister printed in the lower central field.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large central vignette rendered in a woodcut-style illustrative technique, depicting a factory worker tending to industrial vats and machinery inside the Triebes iron and chemical dye works. The denomination numeral "5" appears in each of the four corners within the decorative border, and the printer's imprint is set at the foot of the note.
