Obverse description Intaglio-printed note bearing an oval portrait vignette of President William McKinley at left, set within intricate guilloche lacework and foliate ornamental borders. The central panel carries the full Silver Certificate legend above the bold inscriptions PHILIPPINE ISLANDS and FIVE SILVER PESOS, with a large blue circular seal of the Government of the Philippine Islands at right. Numeral 5 counters occupy all four corners, with the series date and serial number printed in the upper right field.
