Obverse description Printed in black letterpress on light paper, the obverse carries a fine guilloche underprint across the centre field, with large shaded numeral 5 vignettes at all four corners flanking the bold central legend FIVE PESOS. The seal of the City of Bacolod appears at lower right, accompanied by three manuscript signatures of the Provincial Fiscal Member, the Acting Manager of the P.N.B. Bacolod Branch as Chairman, and the Acting Provincial Auditor Member. A printed serial number completes the face of this emergency wartime circulating note.
Obverse lettering PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BANK EMERGENCY CIRCULATING NOTE OF 1941 THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BANK WILL PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND FIVE PESOS IN LAWFUL CURRENCY OF THE PHILIPPINES ISSUED BY AUTHORITY OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES OF DECEMBER 29 AND 30 1941 NEGROS OCCIDENTAL CURRENCY COMMITTEE SERIES OF 1941
Reverse description The reverse is printed in black on plain light paper enclosed within a guilloche border frame. Roman numeral V vignettes occupy the upper corners while Arabic numeral 5 appears in the lower corners, framing a central bold letterpress denomination FIVE PESOS above the issuing authority text in smaller type.
