Additional information

Honduras struck virtually no gold coinage of its own during the nineteenth century, relying instead on foreign specie and Central American federation issues for high-value transactions. The 1871 pattern represents an attempt to establish an independent national gold currency that never materialized — no regular-issue 5 Pesos in gold followed it into production.

Freed references only a single confirmed specimen.
