Reverse description The reverse presents a right-facing draped bust of Leonor Molina, the allegorical female effigy originally engraved by Charles Edward Barber for the Cuban peso coinage of 1897. The figure wears her hair swept upward and adorned with a laurel wreath, with a drop earring visible at the ear. The circumferential legend PATRIA Y LIBERTAD arcs across the upper field within a beaded border, and the word SOUVENIR is inscribed prominently along the lower arc. In the left field the dates 1897 and the inscription EMISION ORIGINAL appear in two lines below the bust, while the date 1987 and a small mint mark are positioned in the right field, commemorating the ninetieth anniversary of the original issue.
