Obverse description The aluminium-bronze centre features the Mexican national arms in high relief: an eagle displayed facing left, perched atop a nopal cactus growing from a rocky island, devouring a serpent held in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in fine detail with spread wings and elaborate feather work. The stainless-steel ring bears the national legend 'ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS' along the upper arc in incuse Latin letters, with a stylised laurel-and-olive branch ornament at the lower arc.
