Reverse description The reverse presents conjoined three-quarter-facing busts of José Martí, at left, and Fidel Castro, at right, positioned prominently in the upper field. The Cuban national flag is displayed between them above center, with a flying dove in the field above the figures. The lower portion of the reverse depicts the outline of Cuba's southern coastline, with wavy lines below symbolizing the Caribbean Sea. Five lines of commemorative legend radiate from the center toward the lower edge, with the issue year 1989 appearing below Castro's bust and the mintmark placed within the last letter O of the legend. The design mirrors that of KM#242.
