| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion shows a golden key between two rocky promontories symbolising the Straits of Florida, the lower-left section bears alternating blue and white stripes representing the original six provinces, and the lower-right section features a royal palm tree set against a rising sun. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap and flanked by two laurel branches tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 5 PESOS appears at the base of the field, flanked by the fineness indicators 7G to the left and AG 0.999 to the right. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a stylised world globe rendered in a grid-line cartographic design, displaying continental outlines across its surface. Superimposed at the centre is a square inset bearing the official Expo 2000 logo: a three-dimensional sculptural motif of a dove in flight composed of organic, rounded forms, above the inscription EXPO2000 HANNOVER in bold relief lettering. The date 1999 appears in small characters to the lower right of the globe. The curved legend EXPOSICION MUNDIAL is inscribed along the lower periphery of the coin. |
