Obverse description Printed in black with a green guilloche underprint; portrait bust of Benito Juárez in intaglio at left, with a vignette of a seated woman accompanied by two young girls at right. Intricate lathe-work borders frame the composition on all sides.
Obverse lettering EL BANCO DE LONDRES Y MEXICO SOCIEDAD ANONIMA MEXICO Julio 1º de 1909 Pagará en la Ciudad de Mexico CINCO PESOS á la vista AL PORTADOR EN EFECTIVO
(Translation: The Bank of London and Mexico Anonymous Society July 1st 1909 will pay in Mexico City Five Pesos on sight to the bearer in cash.)
Reverse description Printed entirely in green; the Mexican national coat of arms — an eagle perched on a cactus devouring a serpent — occupies a large central circular vignette, surrounded by elaborate guilloche latticework and numeral 5 counters at each corner. The printer's imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY, NEW YORK' appears in small lettering at the bottom margin.
