Obverse description Printed in blue-green on white cotton paper, the obverse carries the bank title 'EL BANCO DE LONDRES Y VENEZUELA LIMITADO' in bold letterpress across the upper central field, with a circular vignette bearing a cross and shield device at top centre, flanked by series and serial number designations on either side. The promissory text, payable in Caracas, runs in Spanish script across the middle register, with the denomination 'CINCO' repeated in the lateral margins and lower panel. A manuscript signature line for the Director appears near the lower edge.

Reverse description The reverse, also printed in blue-green, is centred on a lozenge-shaped guilloche frame with the legend 'THE LONDON & VENEZUELA BANK, LIMITED' running along the upper and lower borders. The denomination 'FIVE DOLLARS CURRENCY' is set in large bold letters across the centre of the frame, with the numeral '5' contained within ornamental cartouches at each lateral extremity.
