Banco Industrial was one of several short-lived regional banks that operated in Colombia during the brief window of private banking before the government moved to consolidate monetary authority in the early twentieth century. The Cartagena charter placed it firmly in the commercial orbit of the Caribbean coast rather than the Bogotá financial establishment — a distinction that mattered politically and commercially at the time.
ABNC's involvement is unsurprising; they held engraving contracts with most Latin American issuers of the period. The S-prefix in the Pick reference reflects its status as a private or provisional issue, and surviving examples from Banco Industrial are genuinely scarce — the bank's operational life was short and redemption records are incomplete.
