Obverse description The bank arms vignette occupies the upper centre, flanked by the denomination numeral 5 in ornate corner medallions and vertical guilloche side panels. The issuer name EL BANCO ESPAÑOL FILIPINO runs across a central band in bold letterpress, below which the payment promise text and date 1° Junio 1896 appear in script, with three manuscript signature lines for El Tenedor de Libros, El Director, and El Cajero. Serial numbers appear in a box at upper left and upper right.
