Obverse description	The obverse is divided into two vertical sections: a left counterfoil section bearing two duplicate billete stubs with manuscript fields for number and denomination, and the main note to the right. The main note carries a central intaglio vignette of a female bust portrait within an oval frame, flanked by dense guilloche borderwork with numeral 5 corner pieces. To the right, a second vignette depicts a cherub or allegorical figure with nautical attributes. The issuer's name and promise-to-pay text are inscribed in letterpress above the central vignette, with the date Valparaíso, 3 de Enero, 1876 printed below.

Reverse description	The reverse is printed in a bicolour scheme of green and rose-red, with two large intaglio portrait vignettes set within ornate oval guilloche frames positioned at left and right of centre. Between them, the word CINCO is overprinted in bold red letterpress across the central guilloche underprint. Corner pieces repeat the numeral 5, and an intricate lathe-work border frames the entire composition. The note shows punch-cancellation holes consistent with a cancelled or specimen example.
