Comments

The Banco Nacional de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata was established in 1826 under Bernardino Rivadavia's reformist administration, with British commercial interests heavily involved in its capitalization. It collapsed in 1836 under the weight of the Federalist-Unitarian conflicts and chronic over-issue — notes like this 5 Pesos were printed locally at a time when the bank's convertibility guarantees were already under serious political strain.

The wax seal as the primary security device reflects both the period and the limitations of Buenos Aires printing infrastructure in 1829. Each seal was applied individually by hand.
