Reverse description The quartered coat of arms of Spain — displaying the castles of Castile, the lion of León, the vertical pales of Aragon, and the pomegranate of Granada with a central escutcheon — surmounted by a mural crown. The shield is flanked by the twin Pillars of Hercules, each wrapped with a ribbon bearing the motto PLUS ULTRA. Two six-pointed stars appear in the field to either side. The circular legend reads SOBERANIA NACIONAL above and GOBIERNO PROVISIONAL below, separated by asterisks.
