| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Francisco Franco, rendered in high relief with a plain, unadorned portrait style characteristic of Francoist-era coinage. The truncated bust occupies the central field, with the Madrid Mint mark (crowned M) and the reissue year 2002 visible to the lower left of the portrait. A circular legend surrounds the effigy, separated from the beaded border by a raised rim. The original date 1949 appears in the lower portion of the legend, flanked by raised dots. |

| Reverse description | Central field features the Francoist coat of arms of Spain, depicting a quartered shield bearing the traditional heraldic elements of Castile, León, Aragon, and Navarre, surmounted by the Imperial eagle with spread wings and flanked by the Pillars of Hercules with stylized waves at their bases. The shield is supported by an elaborate cartouche with scrollwork and a shell motif at the base. The denomination legend CINCO PESETAS arcs across the upper field on either side of the coat of arms, with a six-pointed star to the left. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
