Spanish civil war-era cooperatives and municipal issuers are well documented, but this 1958 note from Centellas — a small town in the Barcelona province — belongs to a much later and quieter phenomenon: the persistence of local scrip well into the Franco dictatorship. By the late 1950s such issues were technically illegal under centralized monetary regulations, which makes the survival of this piece from Cooperativa La Económica genuinely puzzling. Whether it circulated openly or functioned as an internal store credit is unclear from surviving records.

Catalan cooperative scrip from this period is poorly catalogued. AL#2909 is a rare reference point.
