Obverse description Printed in black and green with a violet and light green underprint, the obverse presents a half-length vignette of Alfonso X 'the Wise' (1221–1284) in crowned royal attire, modelled after the monumental sculpture on the facade of the Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid. The Spanish coat of arms appears in the background, flanked by the issuing bank's title and denomination inscriptions. Signature lines for the Governor, Comptroller, and Cashier are printed at the lower portion, with the date and printer's imprint completing the design.
