| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Saint Stephen I of Hungary, depicted as a crowned and haloed king in royal robes, holding a downward-pointed sword in his right hand and a patriarchal cross-topped orb in his left. A circular beaded border frames the design. The curved Latin legend around the left reads SZENT ISTVAN HALALANAK and to the right 900 EVFORDULOJARA, commemorating the 900th anniversary of the death of Saint Stephen, with the date 1938 at lower right. The engraver's name BERAN L. appears inscribed at the base of the design. The coin is a restrike of the original 1938 commemorative issue, struck circa 1965 at the Budapest Mint for sale to Western European markets. |
